2020 was a year that was unpredictable and challenging for all. Embrace, like many organizations, has been impacted by the COVID-19 virus. However, thanks to our generous donors, supporters, and volunteers, we were able to continue to serve our Embrace families and walk with them through their individual journeys. We are hoping for a brighter 2021 and look forward to the new opportunities ahead! If you would like to get involved with Embrace, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Below is a Q&A with our Interim Executive Director, Peggy Swyrydenko.
Q. Looking at the year 2020, what are you grateful for?
A. I am grateful that Embrace was able to serve so many families in our community. I am grateful that our clients and staff were flexible with the many changes that happened internally and externally. Most of all, it was wonderful to meet all the new additions to our client families!
Q. What will this new year bring for Embrace?
A. Hopefully this year, we will be able to return to hosting in-person classes for moms and dads, even if they are smaller groups. We will continue to help families with needed items for their children, including diapers, formula, car seats, cribs and much more. Additionally, I hope this year brings new relationships!
Q. Tell us about Embrace’s new Nurse Manager who can perform ultrasounds!
A. Carrie Malinak joined Embrace Clinic & Care Center in November as Nurse Manager and recently completed her sonography training and certification. She is mother to 4 children; two boys, 17 and 15 and two girls, 5 and 2. Her children keep her very busy at home and she loves spending time with her family. Carrie’s nursing career has been focused in pediatrics as she loves all babies and children! When not working at Embrace, Carrie works as an elementary school nurse. Carrie has many hobbies, one of which is photography. She loves to capture moments in time and freeze them saying, “You just never realize how little things can be forgotten so easily.”
Q. What else are you looking forward to offering this year?
A. We are looking forward to streaming more classes through Brightcourse: classes on pregnancy and birth, parenting toddlers and infants, life skills, fatherhood, and many others. Video previews are available on their website at brightcourse.com. We can also text a 1-minute video with a list of all available courses to anyone who is interested. This year, we will continue to offer hope and help to families facing unexpected pregnancies. We support all parents; single, married, birth, and adoptive. See you soon!
